| Member of parliament (MP) | A person elected (or in some systems appointed) by the people to represent them in parliament. In a bicameral parliament, the term can refer to members of both chambers. Other terms in use in some systems include “delegate”, “deputy”, “senator” and “congressperson”. |
| Motion | A proposal for action put forward in parliament for consideration, debate and decision. |
